Having returned to Italy from Paris in the first half of 1961 to fulfil his military service obligations, Mondino held his first solo exhibition in Turin at the Galleria L'Immagine.
In these works, Mondino was still strongly influenced by the Parisian milieu and his encounters with artists of the calibre of Roberto Matta and Tancredi Parmeggiani, which resulted in a marked affinity with the Surrealist-Informalist tradition.
