Mystery, charm, seduction.
The mystery of the cocoa bean – small, dark, enclosed within the hard shell of the pod, hidden in the tropical forest – which, through human hands, becomes the prince of aromas.
Charm. Evocative tales, handed down by the Maya and the Aztecs, have shrouded chocolate in an aura of legend.
Seduction. An aphrodisiac, a divine gift, Theobroma cacao, food of the gods, yet also demonic and tempting, it awakens the spirit and brings dreams to life.
An almost magical ritual presides over it, consisting of ancient and skilful gestures from which an irresistible allure emanates. Not just any food, but a dark object of desire that illuminates artists, inspires them. It seduces or unsettles them, but always tempts them.
This is the central theme and inspiration behind the exhibition “Scent of Cocoa – Chocolate as Art”, in which Italian and international artists are exhibiting around sixty works. One section is dedicated to Aldo Mondino and serves as a tribute to the artist who recently passed away.
The exhibition encompasses all aspects of contemporary art (painting, sculpture, audiovisual works, installations, performance art, dance, photography, etc.).
Catalogues, books, CDs, DVDs and chocolate products are on sale in the bookshop.
