Galleria Roccatre is delighted to present "Esercizi di stile", a significant group exhibition bringing together some of the most influential figures in visual and symbolic art from the late 20th century and the contemporary era.
Drawing inspiration from the famous concept of variation and formal rigour, the exhibition explores the infinite potential of the "sign", understood not merely as a graphic gesture, but as a true unit of measurement for artistic thought. As highlighted in Roberto Galimberti’s critical essay, the exhibition unfolds through an intense dialogue between different styles and languages: from geometric purity to the freedom of abstraction, right through to the conceptual and perspectival dimension.
"Each of the works on display shows a continuous movement of the mark," writes Galimberti, "whether incised (De Alexandris) or hinted at (Castagno), free or geometric (Surbone), perspectival (Paolini) or superimposed (Blank)". This variety transforms the exhibition into an exploration of the artist’s ability to bend matter and surface to their own unique and unrepeatable stylistic signature.
From the essentialism of masters such as Lucio Fontana and Bice Lazzari, to the verbal-visual experiments of Arrigo Lora Totino and the rigorous research of Irma Blank, “Esercizi di stile” stands as a key event for understanding the evolution of visual language in Turin and across Italy.
